On Fridays, we compile and post Legal Links, a list of legal news, reported cases, community events and topics of interest to Lancaster residents and readers of the Lancaster Law Blog.

  1. Gone Girl Kidnapping Not a Hoax. Several months ago, Vallejo Police department thought they had a case of life imitating art when Aaron Quinn reported the kidnapping of his girlfriend Denise Huskins. Soon after the report, the Vallejo Police went public claiming this kidnapping was a hoax and stated that the couple could face charges for making the false report and wasting police resources. However, in early June, the FBI arrested Matthew Muller in connection with the kidnapping. Quinn and Huskins have since filed suit against the Vallejo Police Department for calling the abduction a hoax and publically humiliating the couple. Click here to read more.
  1. Think of Your Attorney for Your Next Birthday. Why not? A Louisiana mom threw a personal injury lawyer themed birthday party for her son’s second birthday. Don’t worry, Grayson was all about it – he’s been obsessed with New Orleans lawyer Morris Bart and his popular commercials since the tender age of 3 months. There was even a cake with attorney Bart’s face on it! Morris didn’t show up, but sent an autographed photo and other swag, noting that he is flattered to be the theme of the birthday party.
  1. Say Goodbye to the Eagle Cam and Hello to the Elk Cam. The Pennsylvania Game Commission went live with the new Elk Cam earlier this month. Read more about the project in this article from Lancaster Online.

Where are the elk located? You guessed it, Elk County! Here are some locations where you can view the elk in person: Pennsylvania Elk Viewing Destinations.

  1. A Night with the District Attorney. You’ve seen him on TV and now is your chance to see him in person. On October 7th, District Attorney Craig Stedman will be speaking live at the Ephrata Area Chamber of Commerce’s Fall Dinner at the Eden Resorts and Suites.
